Wydarzenia w AGH

Akademickie Centrum Materiałów i Nanotechnologii AGH zaprasza na seminarium, które odbędzie się 9 listopada 2023 r. o godz. 14.00 w formie hybrydowej.

Wykład zatytułowany Superconductivity in quantum materials wygłosi prof. Tero Heikkilä (University of Jyväskylä, Department of Physics, Finlandia).

Udział

Streszczenie

Superconductivity is abundant and can be found in many materials, but only at low temperatures. The quantum materials approach is to ask what ingredients are needed for it, and how they could perhaps be tailored to receive a desired outcome, for example a higher operating temperature. In this spirit I will introduce flat band superconductivity, where the electron dispersion is tailored in a way that makes electrons almost immobile. Perhaps counterintuitively, in this case it is possible to design a superconductor with a high critical temperature, as long as the supercurrent remains finite. I will show some connections between the finite supercurrent in such flat bands with the quantum geometry of those bands. As an example realization of this concept, I will discuss our predictions of graphene-related superconducting states along with the related recent experiments.
