Wydarzenia w AGH

Akademickie Centrum Materiałów i Nanotechnologii AGH zaprasza na seminarium, które odbędzie się 20 października 2022 r. o godz. 14.00.

Wykład zatytułowany „What's 'electron hydrodynamics' and how to observe it?” wygłosi dr Piotr Witkowski (Instytut Fizyki Teoretycznej, Wydział Fizyki, Astronomii i Informatyki Stosowanej UJ).

Miejsce: ACMiN AGH (Kraków, ul. Kawiory 30, bud. D-16, sala 1.02A)

Streszczenie

When condensed matter transport phenomena are considered, two model situations are usually analyzed: well-known Ohmic conduction, in which the resistance comes from carrier-disorder interactions and ballistic conduction with free-streaming particles whose movement is only limited by the physical geometry of the sample (be it in quantum or classical fashion). These do not take into consideration one type of interactions in the system: the interaction between charge carriers themselves. One may wonder: what happens once these interactions become strong enough to influence the physics of transport? It looks like an extremally hard challenge, as in the realm of many-body interacting systems simple solutions are uncommon. In my talk I will show you how, in this situation, a classical XIX-century theory comes to the rescue, and more: how new materials allow us to realize old ideas and how many similarities do honey and graphene layers have!
