Professor Ryszard Tadeusiewicz has been awarded a honorary doctorate by UTP University of Science and Technology

Professor Ryszard Tadeusiewicz, prof. dr hab. inż, has received the honorary degree of Doctor honoris causa conferred by UTP University of Science and Technology in Bydgoszcz. The official ceremony took place on 12 February 2020 during the open session of the University Senate in UTP’s Auditorium Novum.

Professor Tadeusiewicz was presented with the distinction conferred by the Senate of UTP University of Science and Technology in recognition of his scientific achievements and the valuable contribution he made to UTP.

The degree of Doctor honoris causa awarded by UTP University of Science and Technology is hereby conferred on a prominent scientist, who enjoys immense respect and widespread recognition among the academic community in many areas of science, from computer science to medicine to economics – said Professor Ryszard Choraś of UTP Faculty of Telecommunications, Computer Science and Electrical Engineering. In his laudatio Professor Choraś presented the academic track record and the body of scientific achievements defining Professor Tadeusiewicz’s scientific career. Then, he also referred to Professor’s close ties with UTP:

– Professor Tadeusiewicz’s close involvement with our university dates back to the late 1980s and early 1990s, which is when we launched a series of scientific conferences on signal processing in telecommunications and control. Since that time, Professor Ryszard Tadeusiewicz has maintained close contact with Bydgoszcz’s scientific community centred around UTP’s Faculty of Telecommunications, Computer Science and Electrical Engineering. Professor Tadeusiewicz supported local academia both in terms of individual development of its members as well as promoting the positive recognition of our community in national and international circles (…). Professor Ryszard Tadeusiewicz delivered multiple lectures to students and research staff from the Faculty of Telecommunications, Computer Science and Electrical Engineering and the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering (including distance learning sessions)

Opinions about Professor Tadeusiewicz’s impressive body of scientific, teaching and organisational achievements were contributed by two reviewers: Professor Leszek Rutkowski, prof. dr hab. inż. of the Institute of Computational Intelligence at Czestochowa University of Technology, who is also a regular member of the Polish Academy of Sciences and Professor Sławomir Wiak, prof. dr hab. inż. of the Institute of Mechatronics and Information Systems at Lodz University of Technology.

The ceremony was attended by AGH UST Vice-Rector for Science – Professor Andrzej R. Pach.
