This year, the traditional celebration of the Metallurgist’s Day takes place on 8–10 May. With ceremonial vows made by first-year metallurgy students, it is one of the most important events on the university calendar.

The festivities are held near the Day of Saint Florian, the patron saint also of the metallurgists. At the AGH University, the Day dates back to 1962, when Professor Wacław Różański outlined how the celebration and the vows should look like, inspired by the university mining traditions. Accompanied by conferences, seminars, and student presentations, the event joined by a wide circle of academics, students, and industry representatives.
