Building S-1, located in the heart of the AGH University campus, is currently undergoing advanced modernisation and extension work. The stage of the finishing work will start very soon. The final result will be a modern facility with spaces for conducting research, teaching, and a special zone for students.
The concrete and bricklaying work has already been completed, making way for roof and elevation work. Electrical, telecommunication, and sanitary systems are being installed inside the building. In the coming months, large pieces of equipment will be delivered, including ventilation units. Particular attention was paid to keeping the greenery untouched. The construction team has managed to save a tree, which was a particular challenge during formwork.
Following the modernisation work, the building will boast a new architectural structure, greater cubature, and more functionality. It will house modern laboratories, IT infrastructure, and technical facilities, and will be the seat of the AGH University Student Government. There will also be catering facilities for our academic community.
After reconstruction, the central part of the building will reach more than 5,000 square metres in usable area, including technical and communication zones, and the total floor area of the building will exceed 6,000 square metres. The building area will be nearly 1,600 square metres. The building will have six floors, five above the ground, and one underground. It will be 19.4 metres high.
The investment is funded with the university’s own funds and implemented by the NDI Group.
