Funding is available for international partnerships led by Polish research organisations, involving at least one partner from the EEA Countries: Norway, Iceland, or Liechtenstein. While the call is open to all research fields and topics, proposals must address challenges within at least one of the three priority areas:

• the European green transition,
• democracy, the rule of law, and human rights,
• social inclusion and resilience.

Under GRIEG BIS, research projects may be planned for a period of 36 months. Funding is available for international partnerships led by Polish research organisations, involving at least one partner from Norway, Iceland or Liechtenstein. The total costs of partners from EEA countries must not exceed 40% of the total project budget. The partners prepare a single joint application, which is submitted electronically by the Project Promoter (based in Poland) via the OSF submission system. The Principal Investigator must have a doctoral degree at the time of submission. The call is open to all research fields and topics, however, projects must relate to at least one of the programme’s three priority areas.

The total budget for the call is EUR 50 million, and the amount of funding for a single project can range from EUR 800,000 to 1.5 million.

To facilitate the formation of international research consortia, the NCN has launched a dedicated EEA&Norway Grants Partner Matchmaking Tool. The platform enables Polish research organisations and potential partners from Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein to showcase their expertise and establish direct contacts.
