The OPUS 28 call was open to researchers with at least one research paper published or accepted for publication, regardless of their academic degree or title and without restrictions on research experience. Applications could cover both national research projects and projects involving foreign partners or the use of international research facilities by Polish teams.

The OPUS 28+LAP/Weave call received 2,039 applications for a total amount of over PLN 3.2 billion. Of these, 1,823 applications for almost PLN 3 billion were national projects, and 216 applications for over PLN 320 million were projects submitted under the LAP track.

The OPUS 28 ranking list includes 234 national projects eligible for funding, with a total cost of over PLN 448 million. NCN teams of experts also evaluated LAP proposals, but their evaluations must be additionally approved by partner institutions from countries cooperating with the NCN in the Weave programme. The ranking lists for these applications will be published by the NCN in the coming months.
