Half a million for the support of student research clubs

Over half a million PLN is going to the AGH University Student Research Clubs for the support of innovative projects as part of the 4th edition of a programme fostering innovation in student research clubs by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.

Out of 12 applications submitted by Student Research Clubs from the AGH University, nine projects have been granted financing. These are as follows:

Student Research Club: AGH Eko-Energia (red sector)
supervisor: Maciej Żołądek, MSc Eng., Faculty of Energy and Fuels
project: Design of a composite body of a solar electric car
[PL: „Perła” – projekt kompozytowej karoserii samochodu elektrycznego wspomaganego energią słoneczną]
funds granted: PLN 70,000,00

Student Research Club: AGH Lunar-Tech (black sector)
supervisor: Professor Tadeusz Uhl, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Robotics
project: Preparation of a test station and tests of a device intended for lunar conditions

funds granted: PLN 40,500

Student Research Club: AGH Space Systems (red sector)
supervisor: Dr Mariusz Gibiec, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Robotics
project no. 1: Design and construction of an advanced hydraulic system responsible for supplying propellants to the test station for various types of rocket motors

Student Research Club: BioMedical Innovations (red sector)
supervisor: Dr Tomasz Nabagło, Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Automatics, Computer Science, and Biomedical Engineering
project: Anthropomorphic manipulator for the evacuation of the injured from exposed areas with a remote control system for the use by emergency medical personnel

Student Research Club: Inspired Science (red sector)

project: Synthesis of platinum-based catalysers in a flow microreactor

Student Research Club: Mechatronics (red sector)
supervisor: Dr Piotr Kohut, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Robotics
project: A hybrid race car drive working with an autonomous system

funds granted: PLN 70,000,00

The ministerial programme promoting innovation in student research clubs is aimed at supporting them in:

  • conducting research or development work, particularly the one aimed at developing and modernising technologies and technical solutions, as well as promoting the results,
  • transferring the results of research and development work to the economic sector,
  • gaining soft skills crucial for conducting research, development work, and the promotion of results, especially in terms of the commercialisation of these results and related know-how, teamwork, and public speaking,
  • purchasing certificates and licences essential in the process of commercialising research and development work results as well as its know-how.

In the fourth edition of the programme, there were as many as 314 applications. Almost a half of them was qualified and will obtain funds. The Ministry of Science and Higher Education allocated nearly PLN 9.2 million for the implementation of 153 projects.
