The sports centre will be able to host parallel training sessions for professional sport teams and First-League-level sporting competitions in volleyball, handball and basketball. The building will house, among other things, a sports hall with stands capable of seating nearly 600 spectators, including a team sport and badminton courts. Moreover, the facility will accommodate a gym, a general sports hall, a wellness area including a sauna and massage parlour and, last but not least, squash courts.
Professor Jerzy Lis - AGH UST Rector said:
“This multi-purpose sports centre is our response to the growing needs of the University community and the numerous sports clubs affiliated with AZS AGH. Every year around 900 athletes represent AGH UST in various sporting competitions held both in Poland and abroad. Alongside research, teaching and cultural activities we put strong emphasis on developing passions and promoting sports activity. I will be most happy to see the new facility on the Campus serve our athletes”.
“The AGH UST Sports Hall is another project to be delivered by Mostostal Warszawa that has been commissioned by a university. We have been actively involved in delivering academic and sports investments, which has recently been proven by the development projects in Puławy and Zduńska-Wola which are currently in progress” - said Jorge Calabuig Ferre, Vice-President at Mostostal Warszawa. “Working on this project we are securing a firm foothold in the Małopolska Province, where we are currently building Zabłocie Social and Economic Innovations Cluster”.
