Nearly PLN 8 million for improving accessibility at AGH University

The AGH University is to obtain PLN 7,909,883.55 for the implementation of the “Accessibility Academy Plus” project aimed at furthering the development of all areas of support for persons with disabilities at the AGH University. The funds come from the competition "Universities more accessible” organised by the National Centre for Research and Development (NCBR).

The project entails complex development of support for people with disabilities at the AGH University in eight key areas, from the modernisation of architectural and digital infrastructure, development of accessibility technologies, to raising awareness and creating new procedures. It will involve the modernisation of buildings, the introduction of a universal signage system, the establishment of plain language counselling, and psychological and training support.

The planned actions are above-standard, original, and take into account the specificity of the AGH University as a technical university. Key accomplishments within the project will be disseminated as part of the Centre of Knowledge on Accessibility.

The project “Accessibility Academy Plus” will be implemented in partnership with the Institute for Regional Development Foundation (FIRR), Twoje Nowe Możliwości Association, and the FRONIA Foundation for Persons with Disabilities. The total value of the project is PLN 8,181,674.60.

The "Universities more accessible” competition is carried out as part of Priority 3 concerning the accessibility and services for persons with disabilities of the European Funds for Social Development 2021-2027 programme. The committee evaluating the projects reviewed 120 applications, of which 57 obtained funding.
