Former Vice-Rector in a team drafting higher education development strategy

Professor Wojciech Łużny, former Vice-Rector for Education, has been appointed to the team preparing a draft strategy for the development of higher education. Established by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education to meet the expectations of academia, the new team is going to prepare a long-term development plan for universities.

The team’s tasks are as follows:

  • identification of issues in higher education; 
  • determination of the most pressing challenges and development directions, taking into account changing economic, technological, and social conditions; 
  • establishment of a timeline for the strategy, taking into account the long-term goals and changing national and international conditions; 
  • presentation of proposed solutions for the development of higher education, taking into account the need for providing flexibility of the system and the possibilities of adaptation to future challenges and economic, technological and social conditions.

Professor Wojciech Łużny is a physicist. He specialises in solid state physics and conducts research on the structure of polymers and computer modelling of condensed matter. His main scientific accomplishment is the development of new methods for studying the structure of conductive polymers based on X-ray scattering and computer modelling. Professor Wojciech Łużny's academic achievements include numerous articles in foreign journals, presentations at academic conferences and books. Supervisor of doctoral theses.

He works at the Department of Condensed Matter Physics at the Faculty of Physics and Applied Computer Science. He was a vice-dean (2002–2008) and dean (2008–2012) of the faculty. In the 2016–2020 and 2020–2024 terms of office, he was Vice-Rector for Education.
