AntyOksy team refines their technology

Nearly two years ago, we informed you about the start of work on an innovative technology for the production of antioxidant beverages that aim to support the psychophysical condition and regeneration. At present, the AntyOksy team, led by Professor Agnieszka Włodyka-Bergier from the Faculty of Geo-Data Science, Geodesy, and Environmental Engineering, is refining the technology for the drinks to meet the highest chemical and microbiological quality standards.

Their key ingredient is hydrogen, which has antioxidant properties. Numerous publications on the biological and medical benefits of hydrogen for the human body have shown that it reduces oxidative stress through direct reactions with strong oxidants and indirectly through the regulation of various gene expressions. Moreover, hydrogen is an anti-inflammatory and anti-apoptotic agent that stimulates energy metabolism. Drinking a hydrogen-saturated beverage makes the body feel relaxed and, with regular use, promotes organ regeneration and improves the psychophysical condition of the human body.

Developed by a team of researchers from the AGH University, the technology consists in the use of a new method for the production of antioxidant drinks. Its innovation factor is based on the production of hydrogen in the filtration process involving a special reduction bed. The method allows to produce flavoured and carbonated drinks, which is an absolute novelty on the Polish and foreign markets. Industrial research and development work include, among other things:

  • research on the technology in laboratory conditions, close to real-life conditions, and on a full production scale;
  • research on the impact of packaging type (PET bottle, glass bottle, can) and storage time on the quality of the antioxidant beverage;
  • selection of appropriate flavour recipes to increase the attractiveness of antioxidant beverages to consumers.

The project results will be implemented in the production of beverages by Tymbark-MWS that will be available for sale on the domestic and foreign markets.
