On December 5, 2022, the AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow and Microsoft signed a letter of intent regarding expanded cooperation that includes joint activities in education and research in the IT sector. A mentoring programme for the AGH UST students constitutes an exceptional advantage of this agreement, which will facilitate a more efficient use of Microsoft technologies for various applications.
‘The mentoring programme launched jointly with Microsoft is intended primarily for students who will soon defend their Master’s theses. The paramount goal is to lend support to the MA/MSc candidates throughout the entire process of thesis creation. The individual mentoring programme will include company experts and can be an invaluable source of support for our students’, emphasises Professor Marek Kisiel-Dorohinicki, Director of the Institute of Computer Science. ‘The theses compiled by our diploma candidates often have practical applications, they can be commercialised. Thanks to these merit-based consultations provided by the experts, those theses gain in quality’.
This agreement results from our previous joint efforts with Microsoft. The following people have been sharing their knowledge with the AGH UST:
Currently, we are working together with Microsoft in the following areas: open access to ready-made tools provided to the academic community in their research, educational, and administrative activities, as well as applications created by AGH UST specialists, which have been built on the basis of Microsoft-delivered technologies. The person responsible for the cooperation in these fields is Dr (Eng.) Grzegorz Król, Director of IT Solutions Centre. The Microsoft Office 365 service proved to be especially useful during the pandemic, facilitating remote education; moreover, it remains useful to this day. Currently, using digital tools in teaching and university management additionally improves administrative processes and facilitates effective teamwork.
The implementation of this contract is coordinated by Professor Marek Kisiel-Dorohinicki, who is responsible for the activities aimed at the computerisation of the AGH UST.
