The Fulbright Program was established in 1946. It is the largest academic exchange and cultural programme in the United States. Its graduates include 62 Nobel Prize winners and 89 Pulitzer Prize winners. The Fulbright Program has been operating in Poland since 1959 and has over 5,000 graduates, who often emphasise that it has simply changed their lives. This group includes, among others, former US Ambassador to Poland Mark Brzezinski, who first came to Warsaw in 1991 as a Fulbright Scholar.
