Events

Commemorating the establishment of the Commission of National Education, the event will recognise members of the University community with awards and distinctions. During the ceremony, University authorities will present medals of the National Education Commission and diplomas for outstanding publication achievements.

The authors and supervisors of the best diploma theses will also be honoured. Another highlight of the day will be the formal habilitation ceremony.

As 2026 has been declared the Year of Stanisław Staszic, an eminent Enlightenment thinker, scholar, economic reformer, and patron of AGH University, the celebrations will include a commemorative lecture by Professor Tadeusz Słomka, former Rector of AGH University, devoted to Staszic’s life, achievements, and enduring legacy.

• Speech by Professor Jerzy Lis, AGH University Rector
• Lecture by Professor Tadeusz Słomka
• Presentation of awards and distinctions 
• Promotion of habilitated doctors
• “Gaudeamus igitur” performed by the AGH University Song and Dance Ensemble Krakus
• Wreath-laying ceremony at the statue of Stanisław Staszic in the main hall
