Research & Cooperation

Research

To excel in breaking new research grounds and creating innovative solutions for industry – these are our priorities through which we shape modern science and economy.

The AGH University of Krakow carries out projects funded by the Ministry of Education and Science, the European Commission, the National Science Centre, the National Centre for Research and Development, and the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange.

Our scientists investigate the world and create inventions and breakthrough solutions for the benefit of the economy and society. The AGH University projects emerge to meet the needs of industry, business, and administration. Through participation in Polish and international associations, consortia, and organisations, we take part in the most important scientific initiatives, contributing to the development of strategic research projects.

The AGH University aims to bring science and research closer to people and does it by means of science meetings, namely lectures and Q&A sessions with specialists who try to share the results of scientific research in a clear and simple manner.

Cooperation

Every year, the AGH University signs about 100 contracts, letters of intent, and agreements on cooperation with industry, administration, and business environment organisations.

The university implements about 1,000 R&D contracts a year, more than a half of which are commissioned by industry.

The AGH University ranks at the top among Polish institutions in terms of the number of patent applications filed to the European Patent Office.

International cooperation

The university has concluded nearly 300 general agreements on cooperation with universities around the world.
The AGH University has partners in more than 60 countries. Currently, most agreements have been signed with universities in Ukraine, France, the People’s Republic of China, and the United States of America.

The university has 600 student exchange agreements and 31 double degree agreements (including 1 concluded within the framework of the prestigious T.I.M.E. programme).

Each year, nearly 700 students (arriving and leaving) and 130 employees (research trips) participate in academic exchanges within the framework of the Erasmus+ programme.

The AGH University often hosts lecturers from abroad, i.e. Visiting Professors. In the academic year 2020/2021, 15 prominent scientists and popularizers from all over the world have come to lecture at our university.
