On 2nd June 2023, Dr Mrityunjay Singh, an eminent specialist in the field of ceramic process engineering and advanced materials and manufacturing technologies, received an honorary doctorate from the AGH University.

By awarding this prestigious title and adopting the appropriate resolution, the university's Senate acknowledged Dr Singh's outstanding scientific achievements in the field of modern engineering ceramics, his long-standing activity in organising the global ceramic community and its integration, his kindness and assistance offered to Polish ceramicists, and his significant involvement in the Scientific Council of the AGH Space Technology Centre.

During the ceremony, the Rector of the AGH University – who served as the promoter of awarding the honorary degree to Dr Singh – emphasized that Dr Singh had made significant contributions to the formulation and implementation of research strategies in materials science and the development of materials engineering technology, as well as the development of a list of materials used by the aviation, space, and space energy systems industries. Dr Singh's professional leadership and contributions have left a distinct mark in the world of science.

"He is a well-known and highly esteemed figure worldwide. (…) Dr Singh maintains regular contact with our university, and his work has had a significant impact on the development of research and other initiatives carried out at the AGH University," added the AGH Rector.

In his speech, Professor Jerzy Jedliński, Dean of the Faculty of Materials Science and Ceramics, outlined the key stages of the procedure for awarding the honorary doctorate of the AGH University, emphasizing that the basis for the nomination in this case were Dr Singh's achievements, reputation, and personality.

Immediately after the ceremony, Dr Mrityunjay Singh delivered a master lecture entitled "Materials, Society, and Sustainable Development."

At the end of the event, Professor Tadeusz Telejko, AGH Vice-Rector for General Affairs, read out a letter from Przemysław Czarnek, Minister of Education and Science, addressed to the AGH community. The Minister's congratulatory letter was presented to Dr Singh by the AGH Rector.
