Functioning of the AGH UST during Christmas and New Year (20 December – January 9)

Functioning of the AGH UST during Christmas and New Year (20 December – January 9)

Professor Jerzy Lis, the AGH UST Rector, decided that during the Christmas and New Year period, that is, between December 20, 2021 and January 9, 2022, the University will perform its usual tasks remotely in all areas possible.

In the aforementioned period, we strongly advise you to avoid meetings, professional consultations, and other large gatherings.

Classes in full- and part-time studies, postgraduate programmes, as well as within the framework of other forms of education will take place online.

The functioning of the university in detail determines Regulation of the AGH UST Rector No. 73/2021 of December 6, 2021 (PDF in Polish).

This extraordinary change is primarily dictated by the concern for the safety of the members of the academic community; during the Christmas and New Year period, family gatherings occur more frequently and in larger numbers.

The Regulation No. 73/2021 of December 6, 2021, introduces the following changes to the Regulation No. 56/2021 of September 23, 2021 on the functioning of the university since October 1, 2021:

§1 sec. 1 changes to:

1.   Between December 20, 2021 and January 9, 2022, the university carries out its tasks remotely in all areas possible, unless the provisions of this regulation dictate otherwise.

§1 sec. 1, 4, and 5 are no longer in force and are replaced by sec. 3a and 3b:

3a. Between December 20, 2021 and January 9, 2022, it is advised to avoid the organisation of classes, meetings, professional consultations, and other large gatherings or events.

3b. In extraordinary situations, the head of an organisational unit can approve the organisation of meetings referred to in section 3a.

§2 sec. 1 changes to:

1.   All activities related to the process of education in full- and part-time studies, postgraduate programmes, or other forms of study, according to the schedule of the academic year 2021/2022, during the period between December 20, 2021 and January 9, 2022, are held online.

§2 sec. 1a and 1b are no longer in force.

§2 sec. 2 changes to:

2.   I hereby authorise the Vice-Rector for Education to determine detailed principles related to the organisation of the education process and to make any necessary decisions connected thereto in relation to full- and part-time studies, postgraduate programmes, and other forms of education during the period specified in section 1, especially to determine the rules and form of practical make-up classes from the aforementioned period.

§6 changes to:

1.   Between December 20, 2021 and January 9, 2022, organisational units are obliged to fulfil all tasks and facilitate the following in particular:

a)   possibility of handling affairs by clients in all university buildings with direct personal contact

b)   uninterrupted acceptance, processing, and transfer of professional documents

c)   signing of documents by authorised persons

d)   on-site support of all activities carried out by organisational units

2.   To ensure the completion of tasks, organisational units should operate on-site in university buildings on working days, between 9:00 and 14:00 at the minimum.

3.   To ensure the sanitary safety of the employees and to reduce the number of persons working in the same room, the head of a unit might organise:

a)   a backshift between 14:30 and 19:30

b)   work on Saturdays with the assurance of another day off during the week

c)   an individual work schedule that guarantees the fulfilment of the standard weekly worktime

4.   I introduce the following principle that the general form of work between December 20, 2021 and January 9, 2022 cannot constitute the basis for employees to refuse carrying out tasks on the premises of the university.

5.   The heads of organisational units might direct a non-academic employee, upon their request, to work from home, if the scope of duties can be performed remotely and the following circumstances occur:

a)   the employee is under quarantine, waiting for the coronavirus test, that is, from the moment of receiving a referral for testing to the time of receiving the results

b)   the employee is not under quarantine but has to take care of a child not older than 14 years who remains in isolation due to coronavirus infection or is under quarantine due to close contact with an infected person, or whose school/class transferred to remote education

c)   a need to reduce the number of employees working in one room

6.   Heads of units who direct employees to work remotely are required to document it and keep a record thereof.

7.   The provisions of sections 2–5 do not apply to employees designated to support the activities of units on-site, to secure equipment and technical infrastructure, and to provide IT services; as well as security, cleaning, and emergency services. For the aforementioned employees, the heads of units determine the work schedule, if different than in sections 2 or 3, should the need present itself.
