Easter wishes from the Rector of the AGH UST

Easter wishes from the Rector of the AGH UST

Dear, respectable Employees, Students, Doctoral Students, Retirees, Alumni, and Friends of the AGH UST!

Like every year, the first leaves on trees and the Sun circling higher and higher, shining above our heads, herald the coming of Easter, the most important Christian holiday. We observe it in remembrance of the Resurrection of Jesus and as a symbol of the victory of life over death, day over night, and spring over winter.

Unfortunately, we could not fully celebrate the previous Easter due to the pandemic, and this year we will be celebrating it in the shadow of war just outside our border. Once again, we are faced with a difficult time. We realise again how fragile our dreams, plans, peace, and ultimately our lives are. We have never needed more hope and strength than now, which we are able and obliged to give to one another.

I believe that this Easter shall bring comfort and peace to our homes and the hearts of people who have found shelter among us, and the shared love will overcome fear.

I also believe that it is our academic community that allows us to find peace and think positively about the future. My dream is that the walls of the AGH UST be a sanctuary of unrestrained human thought and idea, which will help make the world a better place. As a university community, we have the privilege and duty to spread knowledge that will save it from falling into madness.

I wish you joy and pride for working and studying here. I wish you endless creativity in your research. I wish you twice as much energy and resilience in pursuing your individual and our shared goals. But above all, I wish you good health and inner strength and hope.

Hallelujah!
