Construction of the D-3 building begins

The construction of the D-3 building starts on the premises of the AGH UST Campus. The work is scheduled to end in 2023. The contractor is to enter the construction site on December 21, 2021.

The D-3 building was designed as a rectangular 6-storey building. It will constitute the west-side wing of the S-1 building and a symmetrical copy of the east-side wing. In the north-east part, there will be an independent room, protruding outside the external outline of the building, housing a technological laboratory.

The new building will accommodate rooms of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Robotics, including the Department of Robotics and Mechatronics, and the AGH UST Space Technology Centre. The respective levels of the building will house laboratories, lecture and seminar rooms, as well as work rooms.

Heavy equipment for laboratory tests and passenger cars to be subjected thereto will be transported to the laboratories from the underground and ground levels using a hydraulic scissor lift, included in the blueprints on the west side of the building.

The facility will accommodate the needs of people with disabilities and all pavements and ramps in the vicinity of the building will be modernised.

On December 15, 2021, an official meeting took place with the general contractor, the BAUDZIEDZIC company, and the construction contract was concluded.

Basic parameters of the building:

  • Gross covered area: 630.07 m2 (including the technological lab: 52.8 m2)
  • Usable floor area (with on-site traffic): 2,876.08 m2
  • Total area: 3,456.13 m2
  • Cubature: 14,286.6 m3
  • Height: 20.7 m
  • Number of floors: 6 (including one underground level)
