AGH University to cooperate with SIEMAG

On 24 January 2024, the AGH University has entered into an agreement on cooperation with SIEMAG Tecberg Polska Sp. z o.o.

The cooperation will concern fields related to control systems in machines and devices and, in particular:

  • the search for optimal technical solutions in terms of vertical transportation systems and the improvement of their efficiency,
  • the search for optimal technical solutions in terms of energy storage systems which take advantage of the infrastructure of mining plants in the energy transformation process,
  • the improvement of efficiency of energy storage systems as an element enabling the full use of renewable energy sources.

Activities undertaken within the framework of cooperation concern primarily: conducting research and exchanging experience, performing together as part of research projects and implementing industrial activities, introducing projects of an implementation nature, developing new solutions for the construction and modernisation of vertical transportation systems, joint activities in the development of distributed energy sources and energy storage systems, implementing the teaching process through the organisation of work placements and apprenticeships for students.

A board member of SIEMAG Tecberg, Marzena Gajda, participated in the meeting on behalf of SIEMAG Tecberg. Whereas, on behalf of the AGH University: Vice-Rector for Cooperation, Professor Rafał Wiśniowski; Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Automatics, Computer Science, and Biomedical Engineering, AGH University Associate Professor Marcin Baszyński; cooperation coordinator from the AGH University, Dr Tomasz Siostrzonek.

During the meeting, both parties unanimously claimed that, despite the difficult situation of hard coal mining in Poland, it is necessary to keep on searching new solutions for the extractive industry and fostering future employees of the sector. It is worth to remember that mining does not only concern hard coal but also raw materials used in devices that constitute the basis for the use of renewable energy sources.

SIEMAG Tecberg Polska is part of SIEMAG TECBERG, an international company specialising in the development, production, and implementation of modern solutions in underground mining as regards vertical transportation, central conditioning systems in mines, and cutting-edge industrial automation systems. Currently, it comprises 24 branches in various parts of the world, particularly in countries exploiting certain types of resources. The company has a 10-year-long experience backed up by numerous operating vertical transportation systems and central conditioning of mines.
