AGH University scientists elected to Scientific Excellence Council

Seven AGH University scientists were appointed to the elite Scientific Excellence Council. The term of the newly elected members of the Council will commence on January 1, 2024 and will last until 2027.

The list of the AGH University scientists to sit on the Council along with the disciplines of their specialisations:

  • Information and communication technology:
    Prof. Dr hab. Eng. Aleksander Byrski
  • Biomedical engineering:
    Prof. Dr hab. Eng. Piotr Augustyniak
  • Materials engineering:
    Prof. Dr hab. Eng. Dariusz Kata
  • Environmental engineering, mining and energy:
    Prof. Dr hab. Eng. Krzysztof Tajduś
  • Computer and information sciences: 
    Prof. Dr hab. Eng. Piotr Faliszewski
  • Physical sciences: 
    Prof. Dr hab. Eng. Władysław Dąbrowski
  • Earth and related environmental sciences:
    Prof. Dr hab. Eng. Jacek Matyszkiewicz

The Council was appointed in 2019 in place of the Central Commission for Degrees and Titles and its main responsibility is to care for the highest standards of scientific quality required for degrees, degrees in the arts, and the title of professor. It consists of representatives of all scientific disciplines elected by voting, and only the persons with the title of habilitated doctor and professor are entitled to vote.
