Our university boasts the creation of a tactile map representing our campus, a tool that will allow people with visual impairment to navigate its premises.
The map was created using the Braille alphabet. Additionally, it has been supplemented with voice commentary, which will inform the user about how many storeys a given building has or whether it has facilities, for example, for people in wheelchairs. Another advantage is the contrastive, clearly visible tags and outlines. The map includes university buildings, halls of residence, streets, and bus stops.
The tactile map has been prepared by a team working in the Disability Support Office.
It has been created within a programme co-funded by the European Social Fund.
All those who want to check out the tactile map are invited to visit the Disability Support Office at 17 Reymonta Street.
