Professor Władysław Dąbrowski, Dr Amelia Zięba and Dr Stanisław Szufa were awarded the Prime Minister’s Awards for 2024.
The award is presented in three categories. Professor Władysław Dąbrowski of the Faculty of Physics and Applied Computer Science was one of the scholars honoured with the prestigious award for scientific, artistic, or implementation achievements.
The award, granted for contributions to the development of radiation detectors and electronics for elementary particle physics, neurobiology, and cultural heritage, is a symbolic recognition of the professor's lifetime of interdisciplinary research.
The researcher’s interests focus on experimental particle physics, semiconductor device physics, radiation detection technology development, neuroengineering, and cultural heritage research. The scientist participates in the construction of detectors used in the Large Hadron Collider and represents Poland on the Upgrade Advisory Board for the ATLAS detector at CERN. Professor Dąbrowski is an author of a plethora of research papers published in the most renowned journals, such as Nature, Science, Nature Neuroscience, Nature Physics, Neuron and Physical Review Letters.
Awards in the category of doctoral theses was presented to:
“Microstructure and catalytic activity of intermetallic phases produced using the melt-spinning method”; for demonstrating the application potential of complex intermetallic phases of aluminium and transition metals as catalysts for hydrogenation reactions
“Map of Elections”; for high substantive level of research, confirmed by publications and presentations at leading global conferences, and the interdisciplinary nature of the research, enabling the results to be used in political and economic sciences.
