Three AGH University scholars with START scholarships

The Foundation for Polish Science announced the list of the one hundred most talented Polish scientists under thirty, namely the recipients of the START scholarship. Three academics affiliated with the AGH University are part of the prominent group. They will receive a yearly scholarship in the total amount of PLN 30,000.

These are:

  • Dr Kinga Michalec, Faculty of Materials Science and Ceramics

  • Ahmadreza Moradi, Faculty of Metals Engineering and Industrial Computer Science

  • Maciej Sobczyk, Faculty of Geology, Geophysics, and Environmental Protection
    field: materials engineering

The START programme by the Foundation for Polish Science is the oldest scholarship programme for the best young scientists representing all fields of science in Poland. Its aim is to support gifted young scholars at the very beginning of their academic career who may boast promising research achievements, and encourage them to grow even further. The funding allocated by the Foundation for Polish Science in the 33rd edition of the START programme exceeds PLN 3 million.

This year, there were 725 submissions. START recipients are selected through a multi-stage competition that assesses the quality of their scientific output, documented with patents or publications in renowned Polish and foreign journals.
