AGH University delegation visits India

A delegation of AGH University scholars, including Rector Professor Jerzy Lis and Dr Dariusz Sala and Dr Dariusz Cichoń of the Faculty of Humanities, visited India. The objective of the trip was to strengthen academic, scientific, and innovative cooperation between AGH University and Indian universities and business stakeholders.

The AGH University academics met with representatives of Indian science, administration, and industry, including Rabindra S. Grewal, advisor to the Prime Minister of India, Professor Mahesh Verma, Rector of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU), as well as Professor Gagan Deep Sharma and Dr Sudeep Kumar (Director of Research and Innovation, GGSIPU).

At the meetings, the scope of AGH University’s activities was presented, including the structure of the faculties, research fields, and student research clubs. In addition, the implementation of artificial intelligence in education and water management was discussed, as well as future initiatives that combine education, innovation, and sustainable development.

A key issue covered in the talks was the opportunity to involve AGH University in research on the India–Middle East–Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC), an international infrastructure project that connects India, the Middle East, and Europe. The conversation also concerned the potential of Poland, as an EU member, in the development of a corridor that could reinforce the position of Baltic countries and Poland in global supply chains.

Another part of the visit involved participation in the SMEs and Startup Meet conference, held on the GGSIPU campus. The meeting was dedicated to strengthening academic and economic cooperation between Poland and India, with a particular emphasis on supporting startups and small businesses. During the event, the AGH University Rector highlighted the role of Poland as a bridge between India and the European Union, indicating that the cooperation of universities can foster lasting relations in education, innovation and technology transfer.

During the visit to India, Professor Jerzy Lis gave an interview for Outlook India.
