AGH University and Comarch join forces for information technology

On 20 January 2025, the AGH University of Krakow and Comarch entered into a cooperation agreement intended to influence the fields of education and science, and to improve the quality of services provided by the company, particularly in the modern information technology sector.

As stressed by Professor Jerzy Lis, AGH University Rector:

“The agreement on cooperation with Comarch is a natural extension of the exchange of experiences that has taken place between our university and the company since its establishment by the late Professor Janusz Filipiak. Years of joint activities in teleinformatics only prove that a combination of academic knowledge with business experience results in innovative solutions and actual influence on the development of modern technologies. We look forward to the continuation of these activities and further cooperation on the advancement of IT infrastructure, so essential these days.”

Marcin Kaleta, Vice President and Director of the Telecommunications Division at Comarch, added:

“The signing of this agreement on cooperation with the  AGH University of Krakow is a special moment for us, as we are returning to our roots after more than 30 years from the establishment of the company here, in room 415. It is with excitement that we await the synergy of academic knowledge and business expertise, so that we could carry out project together, also on an international scale. This exchange of experiences is a chance for the development of both parties as well as an opportunity to discuss the growing demands of modern IT infrastructure. We will be delighted to cater to these demands, implementing innovative telecommunications ideas and solutions into life.”

The concluded agreement entails:

  • development of scientific and research cooperation,
  • strengthening the entrepreneurial and innovation potential,
  • implementation of joint projects in education, research, and entrepreneurship,
  • education and raising the competence of AGH University staff and Comarch employees,
  • popularisation of issues related to cutting-edge information technologies,

On behalf of AGH University, the agreement will be implemented by the Institute of Telecommunications at the Faculty of Computer Science, Electronics, and Telecommunications. The unit will be responsible for supporting actions aimed at building national and international cooperation in fields of education, science, entrepreneurship, and innovation, including the sector of novel information technologies.

“We are committed to nurturing the research and education potential developed over the past years, born from fruitful cooperation to date. Thus, we will attempt to raise funds to intensify the activities strengthening entrepreneurship and allowing both parties to the agreement to thrive,” said Professor Jerzy Domżał, Director of the Institute of Telecommunications.
