Celka's successful start at Monaco's competition

The AGH Solar Boat team earned the fifth place in the solar boat class during the international competition, Monaco Energy Boat Challenge 2023. The Celka boat was the only one to represent Poland.

The start of the competition was preceded by many months of team preparations and work aimed at improving the boat's structure.

The final stages of the solar boats challenge, which include endurance race, slalom, and championship race, test the speed, maneuverability and durability of the structure, as well as the skills of the helmsman. In order to partake in them, it was necessary to successfully pass a technical inspection of the boat on site and complete the qualifying rounds. The elimination task was to swim half a nautical mile in the shortest possible time. Celka did it in 3.01 minutes.

"It was three days of intense work, great emotions, and unforgettable experiences. Celka and her helmsman did a wonderful job! We managed to win the fifth place. We are incredibly proud of this achievement as only the Dutch have come before us. This means that Poland is the second nation to build the best racing solar boats," comment the AGH University students on their participation in the Monaco Challenge.

The competition took place at the Yacht Club De Monaco on July 5-8, 2023. 13 teams took part in the solar boat class.
