– In the academic environment we can do justice to our solidarity through cooperation. This is why we have to remember that bilateral contacts and initiatives require continuing care and regular effort. For many years, AGH University of Science and Technology has attached special importance to international agreements. We are aware of the great impact, in the past as well as at present, of our joint initiatives: conferences, symposia, student exchange programmes. Today we know how important it is to continue our support for such actions – said the Rector of AGH UST.

This year the awarding institution, which has operated as a technical university since 1994, is celebrating the 50th anniversary of its foundation. Professor Tadeusz Słomka congratulated the university authorities on their present and past achievements and emphasized the benefits of sustained cooperation between our institutions.

– Many a time I have visited your beautiful country and I have a lot of friends here. Between 2001 and 2005, together with my fellow geologists from Ukraine, we conducted field research in the Carpathian Mountains. We travelled through valleys and climbed hills and mountains. We stayed in hotels, guesthouses, private houses and campsites. We were always greeted with extreme kindness. Still, what I personally appreciate the most is the fact that during the terms I have served as the university Rector, the number of Ukrainians studying at our university has increased several fold, we have seen a marked growth in staff exchange as well as the rising number of joint conferences – added the professor.

Ivano-Frankivsk National Technical University of Oil and Gas is a leader in the sector of high-quality technical and non-technical training and educational services for the Ukrainian energy industry – the major driving force behind the country’s economy.  Education is provided by 15 faculties and 5 institutes. 11000 students from Ukraine and 37 other countries receive education in oil, gas, drilling and container technology, management, environmental engineering and IT, among others.
