Streszczenie
The twist or lattice mismatch between two or more 2D layers may result in a new regular arrangement known as moiré pattern. Similar operation can be provided for the low-dimensional materials, e.g., graphene sheets or transition metal dichalcogenides. This oftent result in a fromation of narrow bands related to the moiré superlattice, thus one may expect the increasing role of electron-electron interactions and emergence of phenomena which are driven by electronic correlations. I will present basics of creation of moiré pattern and focus on twisted WSe2 homo-bilayer system which is one of the possible realizations to be measured in a experimental setup. Subsequently, I will show theoretical results which we obtained for the low-energy model describing mentioned homo-bilayer by means of application of Variational Monte-Carlo approach. This study reveals the formation of insulating gap in this highly tunable system, as well as, the emergence of (in-situ switchable?) in-plane spin ordering.
