Internships in the space sector for two AGH UST graduates

Two graduates from technical faculties of the AGH University of Science and Technology, Paweł Kozłowski and Michał Łabęcki, have won internships in prestigious Polish companies from the space technologies sector. The competition was held within the framework of the first-time implemented programme “Human Resources Development in the Space Sector”.

The winners will have six months of paid work experience and internship in such companies as: Astronika, Blue Dot Solutions, Space Research Centre (CBK), Hertz Systems, Ires Technologies, Industrial Research Institute for Automation and Measurements (PIAP), Silesian Science and Technology Centre of Aviation Industry Ltd. (SCNTPL) and SENER. The remuneration in the amount of PLN 4,000– 6,000 (monthly gross wage) will be jointly funded by the Industrial Development Agency (ARP) and the company receiving the interns.

The internship competition was entered by 39 candidates, out of whom 8 winners were selected. The prizes were handed over by the Polish Deputy Prime Minister, Mateusz Morawiecki, on 3 November 2016.

The programme “Human Resources Development in the Space Sector” was initiated by the Industrial Development Agency (ARP) and the Polish Space Industry Association (ZPSK) in response to the demand for highly qualified engineering personnel in the space sector. This initiative fits in with the goals of the Polish Space Strategy developed by the Ministry for Development  and announced to the public on 12 September 2016. According to its accepted strategic assumptions, the total turnover of Polish companies from the space sector will constitute at least 3% of the total turnover of this sector in Europe. The implementation of this strategy is supposed to pave the way for utilizing satellite data in the public administration sector and in the fields of spatial planning, air and water quality monitoring as well as in the borders surveillance and control.
