Researchers from AGH UST in closer cooperation with scientists from German universities


The National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) has announced their choice of projects to be carried out over the years 20202022 by Polish and German academic and research institutions as part of a bilateral scientist exchange scheme between Poland and Germany. The list of 10 projects that have been recommended for funding includes as many as three applications submitted by AGH UST and its German partners.

  • Colloidal Magnetic Quantum Dots: growth and in-situ synchrotron study
    Partner: Universität Hamburg
    Project Manager for AGH UST: Pofessor Marcin Sikora, The Academic Centre for Materials and Nanotechnology
    Amount of financing awarded to AGH UST: PLN 24 900
    Project aims: search for effective methods of controlled synthesis of colloid magnetic quantum dots (nanoparticles) characterised by a strictly defined structure and magnetic properties using micro-flow reactors and extension of method for synthesis of more sophisticated  zinc-doped magnetite nanoparticles covered with biocompatible polymer film.

  • Development and verification of thermo-mechanical parameters of hot processing of PM composites based on a titanium alloy directed towards manufacturing of structural elements

    Project Manager for AGH UST: Professor Tomasz Śleboda, Faculty of Metal Engineering and Industrial Computer Science, Department of Metal Forming
    Amount of financing awarded to AGH UST: PLN 25 000
    Project aims: to develop the basics of a technology for hot-plastic forming of titanium alloy-based PM composites and verify the obtained results through the production of composites in laboratory and/or industrial setting followed by the assessment of their basic properties determining their applicability for construction elements.

  • Development of the innovative technology of production of hybrid structures composed of titanium alloy composites reinforced with particles obtained by powder metallurgy and titanium layers applied by 3D printing for lightweight applications

    Project Manager for AGH UST: Professor Marek Wojtaszek, Faculty of Metal Engineering and Industrial Computer Science, Department of Metal Forming
    Amount of financing awarded to AGH UST: PLN 25 000
    Project aims: to develop the basics of a technology for the production of titanium alloy-based particle-reinforced composites through the application of a cost-effective method based on powder metallurgy, followed by the development of an innovative technology for the production of hybrid structures based on these composites by coating their surfaces with layers of titanium using the additive method.


NAWA competitions aim to support mobility opportunities for researchers pursuing research projects agreed and carried out jointly by partners from partner countries. The bilateral researcher exchange programme covers personal exchange costs.
