E-Moto AGH UST Team, debutant in SmartMoto Challenge Event, qualified fourth in the general classification. Furthermore the award for “the best new team” was for AGH UST students an unquestionable success.

Smart Moto Challenge Event took place on 6 – 9 July at the Circuit de Barcelona track. On the first day the tests required for approval were held. The specific parameters were tested to check if the motorcycle met the organizers’ requirements and qualified for the race. The water resistance test, in which the vehicle was poured with water for 60 seconds, proved most exciting. The motorcycle passed it successfully. On the next day the tests continued while AGH Team had a chance to focus on “finishing touches” and training on the track.

On July 8, in spite of the rain, the students competed in the dynamic contests. E-Moto won “cones” (slalom) and came in second in acceleration contest, which with the business plan presentation scored  the team second in the classification. On the same day, during the break, the contestants could watch the professionals struggling in the 24-hour race held on the parallel track of the Circuit de Barcelona. Late in the afternoon all the student teams were examined by the experts. The engineers of various fields while admiring the vehicles were asking questions about the parameters and technical specifications documents prepared by students. E-Moto AGH proved to be the best for its brake system and mechanical solutions.

Two dynamic events – autocross and endurance contests were held on the last day. On the specially prepared track the contestants were to demonstrate their skills of riding a motorcycle and the battery range usage/ performance. The autocross category involving the round of two riders (two laps each), performed with the best results, proved to be yet another success of our representatives. In the endurance event, involving 5 laps performed by two riders (ten laps altogether), with the time of each lap added up, the Lap Time achieved – scored AGH Team third place.

E-Moto AGH UST finished fourth in the general classification and was awarded three statuettes for:

  • static events (business plan and technical specification documents )
  • best new team / the “Best Newbie Team”
  • brake system and mechanical solutions / “Best Brakes and Bodywork”
