AGH UST takes second place in European Ranking of Engineering Programmes EngiRank


The AGH University of Science and Technology has taken second place in the European Ranking of Engineering Programmes (EngiRank). 

EngiRank 2019 encompassed 81 schools of higher education from 12 countries (Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, and Slovenia). The ranking took into account five groups of criteria: research effectiveness (20%), innovation (35%), quality of teaching (20%), prestige (5%), internationalisation (20%). 

In the top ten of the general institutional ranking there were five Polish technical universities:  

  • Warsaw University of Technology – 1st place,  
  • AGH University of Science and Technology – 2nd place,  
  • Łódź University of Technology – 6th place,  
  • Wrocław University of Science and Technology – 6th place,  
  • Military University of Technology in Warsaw – 8th place. 

In addition to the general institutional ranking, EngiRank also compares study programmes in key engineering disciplines (rankings by subject). In this category, 149 universities from 13 countries were compared and assessed. Two criteria were taken into account: research effectiveness (80%) and quality of teaching (20%). 

In the EngiRank 2019 – Rankings by Subject, AGH UST took first place in the field of Environmental Engineering. 

The European Ranking of Engineering Programmes was developed and executed by the “Perspektywy” Education Foundation and the Foundation for the Development of the Education System (FRSE). The 2019 ranking was a pilot edition.
