AGH UST maintains its position among the top-ranked Polish universities in the Webometrics Ranking


We already know the results of the latest Webometrics Ranking, evaluating the online presence of academic and research institutions. The AGH University of Science and Technology again topped the ranking, occupying the second place among Polish technical universities.

The ranking evaluated nearly 12 thousand universities globally, including also 419 Polish universities.
General ranking of Polish universities:

691 – Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań
692 – University of Wrocław
808 – Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń

1025 – Poznan University of Technology

Among the top ten universities in the world there were 8 American universities (with Harvard University, Stanford University and the Massachusetts University of Technology occupying the first three positions) and two British ones (the University of Oxford and the University of Cambridge in the 7th and 10th place, respectively).

The ranking is compiled on the basis of a composite indicator which takes into account both the volume of the Web contents (number of web pages and Internet files) and the visibility and impact of these publications measured by the number of external links. The aim of the Ranking is to promote the open access publication of scientific results and to enhance the online presence of academic and research institutions.

The Web Ranking of Universities (Webomatrics Ranking of World Universities) has been published every six months since 2004. The ranking is prepared by the Cybermetrics Lab, a research group of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) located in Madrid.

It is worth noting that the criterion of research influence as measured by citations, included in the Webomatrics Ranking criteria, is used to create the Transparent Ranking, i.e. an international citations list.

In the latest Transparent Ranking: Top Universities by Google scholar Citations, encompassed nearly five thousand of university profiles from all over the world, including 72 Polish universities. In this ranking, The AGH UST came third among Polish technical universities with the total number of citations of 38,355.
