The Ranking by Subject evaluated 73 groups of fields of study (two more than the year before) in 9 disciplines: the humanities, social, economic, exact, life, technical, medical and health, agricultural, forest, and veterinary sciences (no artistic fields of study). This category is based on 12–13 indicators grouped into six criteria (prestige, graduates on the labour market, academic potential, didactic potential, academic effectiveness, internationalisation, and additional criteria). There are different weights for individual criteria depending on the specificity of the field of study.

The Perspektywy University Ranking has been organised for 22 years and is considered the most important classification of higher education institutions in Poland. The ranking includes four major categories that complement one another: the University Ranking, the Private University Ranking, the Public Vocational Colleges Ranking, and the Ranking by Subject. The jury deliberates under the supervision of Professor Michał Kleiber, former President of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Vice-President of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts.
