AGH UST is the only Polish university to have joined STAR-NET

AGH University of Science and Technology is the only Polish university to have joined STAR-NET – Regional Network for Education and Training in Nuclear Technology. AGH UST has been unanimously accepted as a member by the Network’s General Assembly in March 2018.

The STAR-NET Network launched in 2015 on the initiative of the International Atomic Energy Agency has been modelled on similar organisations operating in Asia (Asian Network for Education in Nuclear Technology ANENT) or Latin America (Latin American Network for Education in Nuclear Technology LANNET). Currently the Network has 13 members from Eastern Europe and Asia.

The STAR-NET network aims to develop education in the scope of nuclear energy technologies and in related domains, to promote, manage and preserve key expertise in the field of nuclear energy studies as well as to educate new generations of the nuclear energy sector staff. One of the key aspects of the network’s operation is to enhance competencies of its members through participation in courses, conferences and other events with the Network as a partner.

AGH UST’s membership in the STAR-NET Network will enable our University to develop international co-operation as well as greatly advance its competencies required for providing education in the scope of nuclear research. DSc. Mikołaj Oettingen of the Department of Nuclear Energy at the Faculty of Energy and Fuels has been appointed an official AGH UST’s representative for STAR-NET.
