Initiative for Excellence – Research University

Joining the circle of research universities by AGH UST means that there will be changes at every level of the university structure in order to make everyday work even more effective. Among changes, it is planned to introduce the English language as a parallel language for university activities, as well as offering motivational bonuses and lightening the teaching load for staff conducting classes. An important change will also be the wide use of competitions as a way of staffing managerial positions at the university. As a key element, we recognise the consolidation of related fields of study and offering them by only one faculty. We are planning to focus on collaboration with international research centres (such as CERN or ESRF), and also to initiate the Polish Network of University Research Laboratories, incorporated into international structures. At the same time, the opportunities that we would like to offer include, for example, the so-called “starting money”, i.e. financial means for organising laboratories by scientists and researchers who take up the position of professor at our university.
