Award of American Ceramic Society for professor Jerzy Lis

Professor Jerzy Lis, AGH UST Vice-Rector for Cooperation, has become a laureate of the Bridge Building Award, conferred annually by the American Ceramic Society to a non-US based scientist who has made an outstanding contribution to the development of ceramic engineering.

The award was presented during the 43rd Conference ICACC (International Conference & Exposition on Advanced Ceramics and Composites) in Daytona Beach, Florida, on 22-27 January 2019. The conference is one of the most important meetings of scientists and the representatives of the ceramic industry in the field of innovative materials and composites, and the technology of their production.

With reference receiving the award, professor Jerzy Lis was asked to deliver a plenary lecture, which was entitled “Processing of complex ceramic materials by rapid high-energy techniques”.

The ICACC Conference has been organised every year since 1898 by the American Ceramic Society. Its mission is the development of research on ceramic materials. The Society comprises over 11,000 scientists, researchers, engineers, students, producers, and experts from more than 70 countries.
