AGH UST again in forefront of “Forge of Chairpersons”

The AGH University of Science and Technology came third in the ranking “Forge of Chairpersons” organised by the daily “Rzeczpospolita”. The career analysis of 570 CEOs of the largest companies in Poland showed that 6.11% of the chairpersons are AGH UST graduates.

At the very top of this year’s ranking is the SGH Warsaw School of Economics, closely followed by the Warsaw University of Technology. Other Krakow universities listed in the ranking are the Cracow University of Economics (8th place), the Cracow University of Technology (19th place), and the Jagiellonian University (21st place).

For many years, the graduates of the AGH University of Science and Technology have held leading positions in companies. Professor Janusz Filipiak, President of Comarch, is an AGH UST graduate. AGH UST diploma holders are also Krzysztof Pawiński, CEO of Maspex Wadowice Group, Tomasz Adamus, President of MetLife TFI, Sławomir Obidziński, CEO of Węglokoks, Józef Siwiec, President of Zakłady Magnezytowe ROPCZYCE, and Jerzy Berger, President of Zakład Odmetanowania Kopalń ZOK.

“We are very happy with a high position of AGH UST in the ranking “Forge of Chairpersons”, says professor Tadeusz Słomka, AGH UST Rector. “The AGH University of Science and Technology has always provided a high level of education in many fields. That is a reason for a high number of graduates who hold prestigious positions in companies. AGH UST tailors its programme of education to the expectations of employers, and our students receive a programme of studies adjusted to the needs of the labour market.”

The latest results of monitoring the professional careers of AGH UST graduates showed that 79% of them obtained employment in line or partly in line with received education. A vast majority, i.e. as many as 89% of surveyed AGH UST graduates, is in employment or runs their own business, and as many as 68% of them secured employment before graduating from the university. Among employed individuals, nearly 56% received more than one offer of employment. AGH UST graduates also receive adequate and satisfactory remuneration. 16.6% of the university graduates earned a salary of more than 5,500 PLN gross a month.
