St Barbara’s Day at the AGH University

Main celebrations of the Miner’s Day [Barbórka] at the AGH University will take place on December 7–8. AGH University Rector, Professor Jerzy Lis, Dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Resource Management, Professor Marek Cała, and Head of the Miner’s Day Committee, Associate Professor Marek Borowski highly encourage employees, students, graduates, and all AGH University friends for joint celebration.

As per our tradition, the main festivities will be preceded by a mass at the University Collegiate Church of St. Anne on December 4, at 6.00 p.m.

7 December

64th St Barbara’s Student Research Club Conference

  • 8.30 a.m. – ceremonial opening (building A-0, Assembly Hall)
  • 9.30 a.m. – sessions (according to a separate programme)
  • 5.00 p.m. – summary and awarding of diplomas (building A-0, Assembly Hall)

8 December

11.00 a.m. – meeting of the AGH University authorities and the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Resource Management with invited guests

1.00 p.m. – festivities in the Assembly Hall (participation only for invited guests who confirmed their attendance)

  • “Gaude Mater Polonia” performed by the AGH University Song and Dance Ensemble Krakus
  • speech given by Professor Jerzy Lis, the AGH University Rector
  • ceremony of presenting state awards
  • speech delivered by the Dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Resource Management, Professor Marek Cała
  • presenting mining degrees
  • presenting faculty distinctions
  • mining anthem
  • traditional “jump over the leather skin”

4.30 p.m. – Miner’s feast in Stara Zajezdnia Kraków by DeSilva
