AGH University researchers with Prime Minister’s Awards for 2022

The Polish Prime Minister honoured outstanding researchers and artists. The list of 2022 awardees included two male and two female researchers from the AGH University.

For highly rated achievements constituting the basis for awarding the degree of habilitated doctor:

Dr hab. inż. Adam Jabłoński, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Robotics
thesis title: Condition Monitoring Algorithms in MATLAB
The high didactic potential of the monograph was appreciated, especially in linking scientific achievements to their implementation in practice by including a link to the author's website on the AGH University server with source codes for all presented algorithms. This 500-plus page work has been displayed on major world web services.

Associate Professor Angelika Kmita, Academic Centre for Materials and Nanotechnology
thesis title:  Termiczna dekompozycja nanokompozytowego spoiwa formierskiego na bazie żywicy fenolowo – formaldehydowej z ferrytem cynku [Thermal decomposition of nanocomposite moulding adhesive based on phenol-formaldehyde resin with zinc ferrite]
The scientist was honoured for her use of nanoparticles in the preparation of casting moulds, by means of which she has significantly reduced the environmental pollution in casting processes. The American Chemical Society for Applied Chemistry and Chemical Engineering has included her in the group of 20 scientists with the biggest impact on applied chemistry in 2022.

For outstanding doctoral dissertation:

Dr Adriana Gilarska, Faculty of Physics and Applied Computer Science
thesis title: Bioactive nanocomposites for tissue engineering applications
The researcher was awarded for her insightful, interdisciplinary study of bioactive nanocomposites for tissue engineering, the results of which, besides their cognitive value, also bear significant implications for applications in medicine.

Dr inż. Radosław Porada
thesis title: Funkcjonalizacja materiałów elektrodowych dla woltamperometrii związków organicznych z elementami standaryzacji i przetwarzania sygnałów [Functionalisation of electrode materials for voltammetry of organic compounds with elements of standardisation and signal processing]
The researcher was recognised for the theoretical and practical development of a new generation of electrode materials for the electrochemical determination of organic compounds.

In acknowledgement of significant contributions to the development of Polish science, the Prime Minister annually grants the award to individuals or teams for:

  • outstanding doctoral dissertation,
  • highly rated achievements constituting the basis for awarding the degree of habilitated doctor,
  • achievements in the field of scientific activity, including artistic creation, or implementation activities.

In 2023, the Prime Minister’s Awards for 2022 were presented to 44 people and one 11-person research team.
