AGH UST rising in Perspektywy HEIs Ranking


AGH University of Science and Technology has been ranked fourth in the general university ranking and second among technical universities according to this year’s Perspektywy HEIs Ranking published by Fundacja Edukacyjna Perspektywy. Thus, AGH UST rose in the ranking from the previous year.

The top six entries in the main HEIs Ranking included Poland’s three best technical universities: Warsaw University of Technology ranked 3rd (80.1%), AGH UST ranked 4th (78.4%) and Wrocław University of Technology ranked 6th (73.2%).

This year, AGH UST remained the highest-ranked Polish technical university in the Academic Potential category, coming top of the list among technical universities and fourth generally for Academic Effectiveness. As regards the ‘Graduates on the Labor Market’ category, AGH UST came fourth generally and 1st of all technical universities. AGH UST graduates are a top choice for employers among technical universities.

This year’s HEIs Ranking evaluated  over 68 university programmes, of which as many as 21 were technical. AGH UST took winning places in the following categories:

  • Automatics and Robotics: 2nd and 3rd place (Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Automatics, Computer Science and Biomedical Engineering and Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Robotics – respectively),
  • Civil Engineering : 2nd place (Faculty of Mining and Geoengineering),
  • Electronics and Telecommunications: 2nd place (Faculty of Computer Science, Electronics and Telecommunications),
  • Electrical Engineering: 1st place (Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Automatics, Computer Science and Biomedical Engineering),
  • Energy Technology: 2nd place (Faculty of Energy and Fuels),
  • Technical Physics: 1st place (Faculty of Physics and Applied Computer Science),
  • Geodesy and Cartography: 1st place (Faculty of Mining Geodesy and Environmental Engineering),
  • Mining and Geology: 1st, 2nd and 3rd place (Faculty of Mining and Geoengineering, Faculty of Drilling, Oil and Gas and Faculty of Geology, Geophysics and Environmental Protection - respectively),
  • Computer Science: 1st and 3rd place (Faculty of Computer Science, Electronics and Telecommunications and Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Automatics, Computer Science and Biomedical Engineering - respectively), 
  • Biomedical Engineering: 1st place (Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Automatics, Computer Science and Biomedical Engineering),
  • Materials Science: 2nd place (Faculty of Materials Science and Ceramics),
  • Mechanical Engineering and Machine Construction: 1st place (Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Robotics),
  • Mechatronic Engineering: 1st place (Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Robotics),
  • Chemical Technology: 2nd place (Faculty of Materials Science and Ceramics),
  • Management and Production Engineering: 1st place (Faculty of Management).

The Perspektywy HEIs Ranking published for the last 20 years is considered to be the most prestigious university ranking in Poland. The Grand Board is headed by Professor Michał Kleiber, former President of the Polish Academy of Sciences.
