AGH UST among universities ranked in THE World University Rankings 2020 by subject


Times Higher Education has just released the 2020 THE World University Rankings tables for computer science and engineering and technology. 

The THE league table for computer science includes 749 universities, eight of which are based in Poland:

  • University of Warsaw (range: 301–400)
  • AGH University of Science and Technology (range: 501–600)
  • Silesian University of Technology (range: 501–600)
  • Warsaw University of Technology (range: 501–600)
  • Gdansk University of Technology (range: 601+)
  • Jagiellonian University (range: 601+)
  • Lodz University of Technology (range: 601+)
  • Wroclaw University of Technology (range: 601+) 


The University of Oxford came top of the list, followed by Stanford University and ETH Zurich. 

The 2020 THE World University Rankings table for engineering and technology comprises 1008 universities, including 6 Polish ones:

  • Gdansk University of Technology (range: 601–800)
  • Silesian University of Technology (range: 601–800)
  • Warsaw University of Technology (range: 601–800)
  • AGH University of Science and Technology (range: +801)
  • Lodz University of Technology (range: +801)
  • Wroclaw University of Technology (range: +801) 


California Institute of Technology and Stanford University share the top spot while the University of Cambridge and Harvard University have been both ranked third.

THE World University Rankings 2020 by subject are based on five indicators with different weights: teaching (quality of teaching and teaching environment), research (research quality), citations (research impact), international outlook and industry income (transfer of knowledge to the commercial domain).
