The mission of Multidisciplinary School of Engineering In Biomedicine is higher education and integration of research work in the field of biomedical engineering. This modern, interdisciplinary branch of science and technical innovations is supported from medical, biological and technical sciences. The tradition and experience of research work and educating in various aspects of technical support for medicine at AGH-UST is 30 years old. The first idea of such a discipline was elaborated and suggested by Professor Ryszard Tadeusiewicz.
For years there has been a growing conscience that technological achievements should not only make hard work easier or entertain people, but also support the medicine, health care and prevention. The school aggregates the research and didactic efforts of the founding faculties (Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Automatics, Computer Science and Electronics, Faculty of Materials Science and Ceramics, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Robotics, Faculty of Metals Engineering and Industrial Computer Science, Faculty of Physics and Applied Computer Science). They have been successful in several implementations of different technologies in medicine.
The staff of Jagiellonian University Collegium Medicum and other universities collaborate with the School supporting mainly the lectures in live sciences.
