Professor Marek PrzybylskiThe history of Faculty of Physics starts at the very foundation of the University. The first Department of Physics was established in 1919. By decision of the University Senate, the Faculty of Physics and Nuclear Techniques was created in 1991. In 1994, the name of the Faculty was changed to Faculty of Physics and Applied Computer Science. In 2004 the name was changed to Faculty of Physics and Applied Computer Science, accordingly to the changes in the fields of research and educational activity. The Faculty research works are focused mainly on condensed matter physics and elementary particle physics. The Faculty also conducts advanced theoretical and applied research in nuclear physics and techniques, electronics, environmental physics, and medical physics. The strategy of research development is based on continual intensive development of international research projects, e.g. projects covered by the EU framework programs. The Faculty takes care of development of the research staff - at present we employ 40 research experts including 25 professors. Our graduates well educated in applying computer science in processing, designing, collecting, and analyzing data, with very god mathematical background, able to work in interdisciplinary groups are willingly employed in all economic sectors. They work for IT companies, banks, insurers, computation centers, and R&D institutions, environmental monitoring organizations, industrial environmental control and assessment, medical instruments producers, consulting agencies, etc. The y are prepared to work for medical institutions (clinics, hospitals, ambulatories, etc.), research institutions ,and other services providers.
