The main fields of research activities of the Faculty concentrates on applying computer science to spatial data processing (GIS) and the use of modern measuring techniques physical inventorying of buildings and implementing industrial architectural objects and infrastructure. Investigations on applications of GPS, ground and air laser scanners and radar interferometry. Also, the use of remote sensing and photogrammetry in monitoring natural environment or monuments. The research in environment protection focuses on improving the methods of evaluating the natural environment and the methods which will fasten land reclamation.


Graduates in Geodesy and Cartography can find jobs in different industry branches and civil service as well as in surveying companies. The are prepared to do all the activities connected with land and real estate taxation and geodetic documentation for legal purposes, real estate management and in companies doing comprehensive, geodetic service of all building investments, including the largest and most demanding ones.


Graduates in Environmental Engineering can work in department of environmental protection in industrial companies, and in civil service, environmental inspection, environmental protection funds, in design, consulting and measuring firms. The graduates are prepared to obtain environmental data, control the emission to the environment, waste managementand control and manage data. For many years the Faculty has been cooperating with a large number of foreign institutions in exchanging staff members and students, collaboration in the performance of research projects, participation of the Faculty staff in symposia and conferences, holding functions in international and foreign scientific associations, trainings in foreign centres, consulting services, exchange of experience and in teaching.
