The Faculty is the only one in Poland able to educate experts in all the fields of foundry technology.
The origins of the Faculty of Foundry Engineering date back to the academic year 1951/52 when three departments were separated from the Faculty of Metallurgy to offer courses in the fields of foundry technology and foundry mechanization.
The Faculty Council is entitled to confer scientific degrees of Doctor, Doctor Habilitatus and Professor.
The Faculty is the only one in Poland able to educate experts in all the fields of foundry technology. Research works are focused on improving castings production quality, energy and materials consumption saving , optimizing economic factors and reducing adverse environmental impacts of the foundries by closing materials and energy cycle within the foundry and reducing waste materials. International projects are held on construction and operation of wasteless foundries. Our graduates are well prepared to meet challenges of the modern industry, implement advanced technologies ad run the foundries.
Foundries, metal processing plants and various enterprises co-operating with the foundry industry in Poland and abroad look for our graduates as engineers with versatile education, capable of solving various problems and ready to accept the challenge of the modern foundry world.
Students may get so called ‘double diplomas' - one granted by the University of Science and Technology - one granted by a foreign educational institution. Member States , especially Germany, need foundry experts. The Faculty maintains collaboration with foundries in view of present and future careers of our graduates, practical training for students and graduates. The Faculty staff co-operate with a number of Polish research institutions, universities, and scientific organizations. The Faculty of Foundry Engineering has also developed wide collaboration with industries all over Poland.
