The Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Automatics, Computer Science and Electronics is one of the largest faculties of that kind in Polish universities. It is highly ranked among educational units both in Poland and abroad. The history of the faculty was first connected with the Faculty of Electromechanics (est. 1946), which, in 1952 was converted into the faculties of Electrification of Mining and Metallurgy, and Mechanization of Mining and Metallurgy. The Faculty is entitled to confer doctoral degrees (including Doctor Habilitatus) in engineering in the following disciplines: electrical engineering, automatics and robotics, computer science, electronics and telecommunications. Vast R&D activity comprises latest information technologies, micro- and nanoelectronics, bioengineering, robotics, ecological production, transmission, processing and utilization of electrical energy, modern electrical equipment and metrology. Very often, implementation contracts are the results of the research. Many of our staff members can be found among the members of the European Commission, international organizations and academic committees, the Polish Senate and other organizations. The priorities of the faculty are: biotechnologies, nanotechnologies, information society technologies, sustainable development - renewable energy sources and the equipment for the disabled. Our graduates have no problems on the job market. Usually, they find a job while studying. The graduates of Electronics and Telecommunications can work in electronics and telecommunication industry, telecommunication and teleinformatic providers, companies designing and installing systems and computer networks. Some of our graduates finds a job in companies making equipment for large corporations, automatics and robotics systems, specialized measuring and medical equipment, also in firms offering new telecommunication services, such as multimedia communication systems.
