The Perspektywy Education Foundation has for the first time published the Ranking of Engineering Studies 2017, which evaluated 21 most popular disciplines of technical courses. According to the jury, the AGH University of Science and Technology has the best engineering study programmes in Poland at the fields of study of Technical Physics, Materials Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering.

The pioneering ranking presents 311 best programmes of study offered by 288 faculties at 26 Polish universities. The guidelines of the ranking, including the individual criteria and their weights, had been developed by the jury headed by professor Michał Kleiber. Its members were experts in the field of higher education as well as the representatives of various branches of industry.

Fields of study were evaluated on the basis of 13 indicators grouped into six criteria: prestige, graduates on the labour market, academic potential (parametric evaluation of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education; rights to confer academic degrees; awarded academic degrees), scientific effectiveness (publications; citations, the Hirsch index), teaching & learning potential (overall level of candidates accepted for studies; availability of highly-qualified staff for students; outstanding evaluation of the Polish Accreditation Committee; branch accreditations), and innovativeness (patents and protection rights).
